Beard Boy and I were riding home from the Calexico thing at Easy Street last night (which, by the way, was awesome) and we got to use our brand new splitter that we got at Radio Snack last weekend. I just knew that thing would be awesome and, as usual, I was right: it totally is. Of course, I might have a different opinion if I didn't have control of what cd we listened to and at what volume. But who am I kidding? That'll never happen. Evaluation: Sweat!
So, while I was sitting there be-bopping along, I was reminded of my cousin. You see, many years ago, when I was young, my immediate family lived in Hawaii. My cousin, being the whip-smart girl she is, traveled out to spend a vacation with us. I remember a lot about that trip: tiny before The Gap takeover Banana Republic purses, U2's the Joshua Tree in vinyl, definitively not getting drunk on the dinner cruise with my cousin and sister, and, most of all, riding around on the bus with Cam trying to synch up our walkmans (walkmen?) so we could listen to Dead or Alive's Brand New Lover at the exact same time. Somehow it never worked. The closest we got was one beat behind. Yes, we were silly nerds. And yes, we still are. I don't know why we never dreamed of a splitter. I'm sure my father would have loved another excuse to shop at Radio Shack or any one of the other electronic stores he liked(s) to go to. I guess we just enjoyed being silly dorks giggling on the bus in paradise. Hey isn't that a song?
Anyway, now that I have the splitter, I'm think she should totally come visit me and ride the buses of Seattle. I've got a Dead or Alive cd. I'm still a silly dork. And I most definitively WILL drink on any cruise, dinner or not. What fun!
In other good news in Poke the Kitty City:
- It's Nudie Magazine Day! No, not really, but it is Friday! Woo Hoo!
- I got a raise. Well deserved, I think, just based on the fact that I have shown great restraint and haven't thrown my printer out the window.
- My salami sandwich was delicious - oh crap, I think I was supposed to not eat meat today. Oh well, still delicious.
- Coloring eggs just like the picture this weekend despite the fact that I'm apparently a Godless heathen for the salami above.
- Muffin just made me laugh for at least 30 minutes straight.
I hope everyone has a great weekend. If you're around Greenwood and need some space travel supplies, drop by the store, I'll be manning the counter from 3-6 tomorrow.
