Halloween 08

Given the really horrible costumes I've had over the years (and this year's was no exception), I wouldn't be surprised if you thought that I hated Halloween.

But I suppose it has something to do with the fact that I appreciate all things silly that instead I actually *adore* the whole gamut of goofiness that has to do with the 31st of October. You know, like that picture to the left. Zombie? check. Silly afro manufactured by me? check. Sitting on my desk at work and horrifying my boss? check and check.

We've done some celebrating already (as I mentioned in my previous post) to include a costume party out in Redmond, which was pretty spectacular. All costumes (save mine, it goes without saying) were pretty fantastic.  But despite my baby fit that I had right before leaving the house, I had a great time. Maybe next year I can be spared the horror of "what are you again?" and have a decent outfit. Fingers crossed. We also went to a spooky themed potluck in Ballard last Friday. The Eerie Eyeballs were a hit. I should mention that I got them from this lady's site. Starbuck and Apollo were there. Geek heaven! Also, tonight is pumpkin carving (although the Companion Cube thinks he's going to be playing his new game - insert evil laugh here).

That said, I don't know what I'm more excited about this year: Halloween or finally getting past next Tuesday and having this freaking election cycle FINALLY be over. I'm sick of hearing, talking, and thinking about it.  Blech.

So much for that idea

Ever since my boss got promoted, I've been EXTREMELY busy at work. Mostly I'm pushing numbers around and tarting them up a bit. As a result, I just got shocked when someone commented (Hi HBomb!) on this here blog and I realized that it's been since July that I've written anything. JULY! Where has the time gone?

So, you know, I'm doing what all bloggers do and writing about absolutely nothing interesting just so I can have something up that is a wee bit more recent. I wonder if that will work for Metblogs before they fire my non-writing ass.  The only blogging I've been doing has been over at PlanetEye and well, that's because they pay me and I really like that.

So much has happened since July though. Let's recap:

1. Muffin and family visited. We had a lovely time that included much drinking and annoying of people who were a. old and b. just trying to freakin sleep.  I'd say I was sorry but I'm guessing I'll never see them again, and if I do, I won't be able to recognize them.
   

2. Went to some Mariner's games
   

3. Attending a wedding
   

4. Saw a bunch of shows, drank a lot of drinks.
   

5. Went to Austin to visit Kate & JMo and to attend the Austin City Limits Festival. That's a whole post to itself. But definitely was fun.
   

6. Right after that, the Companion Cube went to Ohio, so I spent a week by myself. Since I am the only one in my office right now, I think I went two days in that spread when the only people I talked to was the bus driver and the girl at the coffee shop. Thus, when CC came back, I spent about 2 hours speaking without even taking a breath. Scary!
   

7. I also spent the night at a friend's house that weekend and ended up sleeping (not like that!) with her and a male friend of hers (seriously, not like that!). I only bring it up because I totally had to fart all night because of the hot dog I had for dinner and want to warn you not to be as short sighted as I am.
   

8. I cut off my hair and donated a majority of it to charity.
   

9. We went to a costume party last weekend and I made the CC color my hair. So I have black hair now for about 6 weeks. Perhaps it is because my costume sucked, but I'm not in love with the dark. The Companion Cube looked pretty awesome though. He went as Fido from the movie of the same name.
   

10. Started up "Muppet Mondays" wherein we're having a monthly cocktail party that involves watching an episode of the Muppets (purchased the first season dvds) and having a themed drink that cooresponds with that episode's guest host. We had The Can Can to go along with Juliet Prowse.
    
    Natalie Dee, of course!

11. Made some eyeballs last night for a potluck we're going to today.
    

 

I think that might be about it. At least for now. We do have Hump! coming up tomorrow, pumpkin carving in the next week at some point, and Vancouver for Thanksgiving - which I'm pretty psyched about.
