When I went to Olympia last month, I unearthed the regular non-digital camera from the closet.  There was half a roll of black and white film in there just sitting, waiting to be used. After taking it with me on the train, I again lugged out the camera when we went to Deception Pass with the companion cube's brother. 

I got the film back on Monday night and at first couldn't figure out why they seemed to be all out of order, nor why there were no "found" photos that had been sitting in the camera waiting to be developed. Upon showing the pictures to the companion cube last night though, it all came clear.  Those seemingly lost photos were there all along. They were of our first trip to Deception Pass way back in October of 2005 when Muffin and John first came to visit us here in Seattle. 

So much has changed since then. Muffin and John are married and have a mini-muffin. The companion cube's car is long gone and not replaced. I'm the one that don't got no job. Oh and so many other un-internet-mentionable things. Can you believe it? Three and a half years is such a long time.

Way better than my last post

Him: yeah, so far I've never been sick to my stomach at the thought of coming to work here

Me: Liar. What about Thursday?

Me: Or was that just me?

Him: I was so tense last night that I took a xanax and went to bed

Him: 8:30

Me: Ha. Yeah. I left to go to this fundraiser and promptly drank 3 glasses of wine

Him: same effect, but your idea was funner

Me: Well, except I bid on something I didn't want, couldn't afford and of course won

Me: Someone's getting an ugly handmade purse this year for Christmas. I don't care if they like it.

Him: I really don't need a purse, but thanks for thinking of me

Me: Didn't you read? I don't care if you like it.

Me: You can regift, I won't be hurt.

Him: I once re-gifted at a holiday x-mas party

Him: something that I didn't know was freakin' MONOGRAMMED

Him: someone was all "who is [redacted initials]" ????

Him: it was a "tie case"

Him: like, I'm sorry, who keeps ties in a case?

Me: Not that mystery [redacted initials], that's for sure

Band Meeting!

I wish I could fake Murray's accent when I called roll call, but since I can't I guess I won't have a roll call.

Anyway. On today's agenda:

1. Gigs. We haven't got any.

2. Beard Boy will heretofore be referred to as the Companion Cube.

3. In a huge step forward from last night's seriously exciting events - that is, cutting poop off the kitty's fur - tonight will be the first ever Waxing of the Cheese!  And no, that's not a euphemism. I can't wait!

Yay!

Late present posting

I got some really great presents for Christmas this year, but I gotta say, it's nice that someone remembered my favorite saying.

That is, "Nothing says I love you like a bottle of gin."

Yay! I'm loved! Said bottle of gin was nicely paired with some blue cheese stuffed olives and something that was affectionately dubbed, "a gin sack."  The picture to the left here is documentation of the last of the olives that I consumed last night. Uploaded, I might add, with my new Eye-Fi that my parents purchased for me. (Also awesome.) Sadly, I only have about 1-2 drinks left in the bottle of gin as well.  Not so sadly, all the drinks made have been perfectly delicious.

It's really hard to be me.

In other news, I have been working hard on birthday planning (not really) and am getting the shaft from the Stanley Hotel. I spoke with the sales lady who was supposed to be sending me information, but it's been two weeks and nada. So, I think they're quickly dropping off the list. It has been suggested that I move the trip back a week and hold it at Bonnaroo, but I don't know. My heart truly belongs to Bumbershoot after I got those press passes last year.  Decisions, decisions...

Okay. Let's try this again.  I just tried to post a picture directly from flickr and it went to the dobe rescue site that I host here.  Whoops!  People trying to find out about dogs just got my glorious boast about ... well, let's recreate:

"Aha, what's so special about the cheesemakers?

Well, obviously it's not meant to be taken literally; it refers to any manufacturers of dairy products."

I promised a photo and here it is:

Caprese Salad made from

1. organic tomatoes,
2. organic basil,
3. the usual olive oil, pepper, and balsamic, and
4. home-freaking-made mozzarella cheese.

Oh yes, I am THAT girl now.  The one who gets local, organic produce delivered to her car-free home and thinks about how much she should donate to the electric company so they can develop wind-power, despite the fact that Washington State already uses about 85% renewable energy sources (hydro). Yeah, I'm annoying.

However, I have to say that I make my own delicious cheese now. How's that for a trade-off?

The latest news from Seattle

So things have been a little busy around here. 

• Nearly killed some bunnies.
• Had a friend/collegue in town and showed her the sights (and by sights, of course I mean, bars) that I like.
• Sucessfully made TWO batches of cheese.  Pictures coming soon.
• Went to PAX, saw Wil Wheaton.
• Picked up my passes for Bumbershoot this weekend.
• Went to my first Mariner's game.
• What the hell else?  Oh yes, whipped up some simple syrup at home.  Trying to decide between Mint Juleps or Old Fashioneds being the fall drink (Manhattans are being phased out since summer's nearly over).
• Saw Harry Potter at the Imax.

And those are just the highlights.  I think I'm making a fresh peach cobbler to take to a BBQ this weekend.  What have you been up to?  And why have only 14 of you voted?  I'm feeling entirely unloved.

Probably, but come on now, Auto Shop did not do himself any PR favors in his last game of his college career.  Hopefully, those who have the opportunity to play in this year's tournament will conduct themselves with more class.  Not that it would be hard to beat this guy.

And speaking of, as everyone - even silly non-college basketball watchers - knows, The Tournament starts this week. I am tres excited.

In other news, the ambitious rip all cds in the house except that awful cd I got on the street outside of the Mountain Goats concert onto my very impressive and totally awesome 400 gig harddrive (RACITHETACIGOTSOOTMGCOMVIATAFGHD for short) is coming to a close.  That's right, I only have one cd wallet with about 10 more cds in it to go.  Yay!  Soon I will have all of my cds available for browsing on the TV for playing or shuffling without having to go through the terrible inconvenience of getting up off my ass and looking at cds, picking one out, opening the case and blah blah blah.  God, I'm so lazy.  Or NOT, since I have practically worn out my cd drive, ripping cds. Also? I have produced a diagram so you can see our new set up in the apartment.  Even though the apartment is almost smaller than my office.  Behold! My MS Paint skillz that you have missed witnessing so much:

That dashed line there is supposed to represent the wirelessness of the computer to Xbox setup, if you couldn't tell.  So when we've got this going you can see a million tiny pieces of chocolatemusic floating through the air from the computer room to the living room. It's a TV Dinner! Ahem. I mean, it's super cool.

"Speaking of too old, Beard Boy and I had a meaningful discussion about Yoda the other day and whether or not he would have survived the Jedi slaughter if the wookies hadn't helped. We'll have to rehash that when you and Sam get to town."
