I always wanted to set up a Cleo Cam so I could stop speculating on what it is she did every day. My theory was her day consisted of about 3.5 hours of sleeping on my bed, 3.5 hours of sleeping on the couch, and the rest of the time doing one of three things: barking, playing with toys, and pacing.

I never set one up because I am lazy.  Plus toning down the dog kook is something I struggle to do every day. Seriously. I became self-aware on the day a neighbor saw me and yelled out, "Look the Doberman Girl has another dog!" Oof. Doberman girl? It's not that she was wrong, because (among other things) I did take Cleo to get her photo taken with Santa, and yeah, Best in Show really spoke to me, but wow, that's how I'm seen? Eek. It doesn't help that being involved in rescue allows me to see the extremes of dog kook (13 min-pins and 6 dobes in one house?!) and I don't want to get there. No, sirree...

In any case, I just discovered that JJ over at The Churning has set up a JD Cam. I'm simultaneously jealous and delighted. Of course when I was checking it out, JD was doing what most pets do during the day: sleeping, but I still love it.

Village!

I mentioned before about how Cleo liked* to dress up in a cloth napkin and talk about the old days in the village. While perusing through my pictures for my Halloween Debacles, I found the gem below. The only thing I can say in my defense is that at least I didn't put silly pastel ribbons on her ears and put her in adorable poses on the front porch ala Glamour Shots. Right, Lisa?

*And by "liked" I mean "barely tolerated me fucking with her and laughing." That poor dog suffered so.

Foul on the Admiral?!

I was just doing a crossword puzzle and the clue was "Admiral's concern." I immediately thought "foul," as in "Foul on the Admiral"! which is a line Em and I came up with a couple of years ago while she and I and Cleo were watching some NBA action. If you don't know who the Admiral is, well, I'll tell you.  The Admiral was/is the Spur's David Robinson and Cleo's favorite basketball player of all time and she was simply devastated when he retired. Anyway, it got me to thinking about all of Cleo's favorites:

• Basketball player: The Admiral, naturally
• Band: Cake (with an umlaut over the a, like so)
• Hobby: Knitting, and she was into it way before it was trendy
• Occupation: Assmunching
• Object: The Economist's couch pillows

Her least favorite thing? Well, baths, but coming a close second was standing still while I put a cloth napkin on her head and told stories about the village she used to live in. Sure, you may think that was cruel, but, really, the look on her face was so worth it everytime.

Damn, that dog had such personality.
